ARPA-H GO

A Coalition Dedicated to Advocating for the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H)

Background
  • The Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) was established in March 2022 with a $1 billion investment from the U.S. Congress, modeled on the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).

  • ARPA-H is designed to accelerate better health outcomes for everyone by supporting the development of high-impact solutions to the most challenging health problems.

  • It plays a distinct and unique role by investing in research projects that may be too risky for investment from traditional sources from the public (e.g. NIH) or private sectors (e.g. venture capital), thereby filling a critical gap to enable life-saving and life-changing technologies.

  • Currently, ARPA-H is funded at $1.5 billion annually.

DNA Double Helix
The Challenge
  • Federal agencies, including ARPA-H, must navigate an increasingly complex and uncertain funding environment

  • Unlike other federal health agencies (e.g., NIH, FDA, CDC) that have dedicated advocacy organizations, ARPA-H has no such organization, until now.

ARPA-H GO
  • OUR MISSION: Ensure ARPA-H has the bipartisan support and resourcing to accomplish its mission as an independent agency by funding transformative health science for the benefit of patients everywhere.

  • ARPA-H GO will pursue two outcome-based goals:

    1. Ensure ARPA-H has the full resourcing required to accomplish its agency mission.

    2. Ensure ARPA-H has the independence required to pursue and enable transformative science.
